Today I would like to tell you about a very important application that I honestly believe all iPhone users should have installed on their phones.
Like most of the apps that I write about, this one is free but don’t let the fact that you don’t have to pay for it make you think that it’s not a powerful and important application.
The name of this application is called “ICE” which I believe stands for “in case of emergency”. You can find it in the app store by typing “ICE” in the search bar. I use the free version but there is a premium version that you can get for $1.99 if you would like to unlock more features. I haven’t explored what additional features you would get if you chose to pay for this app.
This won’t be a long article because I really don’t have to go into much detail to explain how important this application is to have installed on your iPhone. I think you’ll agree with me after you finish reading this article that it is a very important app to have.
Here’s How This Application Works
If you are ever in an accident and you are unable to speak to emergency personnel to tell them important information such as your name, who they should contact, and other important medical information they may need, this application can be really useful.
If you are like most of the hundreds of millions of people who carry iPhones around, you have to either enter a passcode or use your fingerprint to unlock it. This is a GOOD thing since it prevents unauthorized use but what if you are in a car accident and a paramedic needs to find out who they should call to inform your family members or friends that you were in a serious accident?
With old-fashioned cell phones, the emergency responders could simply grab your phone and look for contacts such as “home”, “mom”, “dad”, etc.
With the security that comes bundled with modern-day iPhones, they can’t access that information because your phone is passcode protected.
If you have the ICE application installed on your phone, it allows you to enter things like your name, medical conditions, any medications that you might be on, blood type, address, date of birth, emergency contact numbers, etc.
Then, the application will let you create an image using the data you have entered into the app. You can then set that image to be your lock screen wallpaper.
Once you have done that, anyone who tries to access your phone in an emergency will be able to see all of that important information without having to know the passcode to unlock your phone. It will be right there on your lock screen!
I’ve included a screenshot from my iPhone in this article. Please note that I’ve obscured my personal information for privacy reasons but it gives you an idea of what an emergency responder would be able to see if you have this application installed and configured properly on your iPhone.
It only takes a few minutes to download, install, and configure this app. The few minutes that you spend could really help you out someday!
